During your stay at a wellness resort, you can experience a unique and unrepeatable opportunity to get away from everyday stress, to be able to reactivate your senses, and take care of yourself.
Allow yourself moments of relaxation to find harmony between mind and body, using water as a natural element to immerse into it, relax, and leave problems behind. Spas and clinics are visited by millions of tourists a year.
Massages, baths, mud baths, slimming programs, all kinds of treatments promise to make us rediscover beauty and balance, but at what cost?
Is it essential to pay a lot of money? And are the treatments really effective? Let’s try to understand if it is worth spending the money in a wellness resort and what aspects to consider before choosing.
Location and Facility
The location is one of the first features that allow us to choose the wellness resort. If we want a weekend of relaxation, we can prefer a place located a few hours from our house. If instead we have more time and we want a real vacation we can grant ourselves a trip to exotic destinations by the sea or in the mountains.
But the most exciting thing about the wellness resort is its facility. Entering a wellness resort, you will find yourself in another world. Beautiful pools, super modern rooms furnished with design objects or salons that imitate the Roman baths complete with statues and frescoes.
Restaurants with exclusive and excellent menus, and super-qualified, very kind and welcoming staff. Huge glass windows with a view of the sea or the mountain or soundproof walls to isolate you from the chaos of the city and create a protective and unwinding shell.
Often what makes the wellness resort attractive is the comfort given by the environment, regardless of the treatments offered. This environment, however, has a cost, so much higher as the place is exclusive.
Exclusivity
The purpose of a wellness resort is to make us feel pampered. Even more, if these cuddles are perceived as exclusive. Many people are willing to pay big bucks for a unique place, visited by a few people, or instead frequented by people at their level.
As with other facilities such as hotels and restaurants, even the wellness resort is based on criteria of exclusivity. That can offer the customer a unique and unforgettable experience, far from everyday life and which can make it feel important.
Unfortunately, the price is not always justified. There is nothing wrong with wanting to give an experience different from the usual and feeling treated like royalty every now and then. But if you are not wealthy people, you should know that most of the money you spend will go to pay for the location and exclusivity of the place. Consequently, the treatments will not necessarily be different or better than other more common spas or wellness resorts.
Basic Treatments
As regards the treatments, there are considerations to be made. Many wellness resorts are offering different types of treatment. Let’s start with the basic ones that are present in almost all the resorts.
Finnish sauna. Essential for purifying the body and eliminating waste through sweat, also guaranteeing the possibility of cleaning the skin and strengthening the immune defenses, cushioning any risks of the flu. Furthermore, the sauna stimulates the metabolism and indeed represents a panacea for a psychophysical balance.
If then, there is also the opportunity to smell the birch leaves, then the effect of the sauna will be even more entrancing and pleasant. Still, above all, it will be an excellent antidote for those who find themselves with the nuisance of the cold nose, causing the nose closed.
Turkish bath. If, for some, the sauna is too much, a valid alternative is represented by the Turkish bath, where practically a similar process is carried out. First, the temperature does typically not exceed 50 °C and does not fall below 40 °C, while in the classic Finnish sauna, we start from a minimum of 80 °C.
Furthermore, the difference between the two environments is that the Finnish sauna is made of wood, while the Turkish bath is made of marble, with a humidity rate of 15%, while in the sauna, it varies between 90 and 100%.
The relaxing effects, however, are always guaranteed: the vapors will help to purify the skin, and that, when necessary, can be enhanced with aromas. All is harmonized by an environment that is always calm and silent.
Hydromassage bath. The various whirlpool baths represent the heart of a SPA, where it is often possible to carry out some therapies. Instead, you can simply enjoy some moments of relaxation, looking for some relief for the whole body. In some cases, the experience in the whirlpool baths is enriched with soft lighting and background music to recreate an environment that is nothing short of heavenly.
Swimming pools. The pools are another feature of some spas that, especially in a particular luxury resort, can be located in strategic places.
There you can enjoy a breathtaking view, maybe sipping something before going to the enclosed spaces where the whirlpools, saunas, and other pools are located. Many of these pools are filled with salt water, always to recreate an absolute harmony with the whole SPA philosophy.
Scottish shower. Also called alternate shower or emotional shower means entering a booth where, alternately, various water sprays will be sprayed with a temperature that will vary from 26 ° to 40 °. All mixed with lights, sounds, and smells that accompany this experience, which, in fact, is real therapy, perfect for removing stress, excellent for those who have problems with water retention and cellulite.
Thermal waters. There are, of course, some SPAs that use nature to offer different services than those usually offered by most resorts. To choose a thermal water resort among the many available, select the type of water.
For example, there are bicarbonate waters suitable for the treatment of stomach acid and gastroenteritis; calcium water is recommended to prevent osteoporosis; carbonic for those with circulation problems and to fight hypertension; chlorinated water is ideal for combating problems intestinal, and magnesium water for the prevention of arteriosclerosis.
Beauty Treatments and Massages
Even in this case, there is only the problem of choice. Of course, the use of mud is the most traditional and one of the most popular treatments.
Typical is the mud mask for the elimination of various impurities of the face or even the application of the mud on the whole body for the removal of dead cells. Still, often, we talk about a real anti-cellulite treatment where the mud massages are also combined.
Finally, there are undoubtedly classic facials, manicures, pedicures, wax, and eye contour treatments to eliminate wrinkles and dark circles as well as a firming treatment with cold gel and bandages.
Massages cannot miss in a wellness resort. The most common are massages to loosen neck, back and shoulder contractures, to release tension and eliminate the stress of the hectic pace of the city. Face massages to minimize the signs of aging, relaxing hand and foot massages, or revitalizing scalp massages. Then come all the traditional massages like shiatsu or Thai massage.
Halfway between massages and beauty treatments, we have different types of methods. Often, to keep up with the times, innovations are invented to attract customers. Let’s see some examples:
Deluxe gold and diamond ritual. This sensual ritual promises to rejuvenate your skin. It is an extraordinary treatment based on diamond powder to improve the penetration of active ingredients into the skin. Along with particles of gold and pearls that create a spectacular pearlescent mask that gives brightness and tone to the contours of the face.
Chocolate and Cream Ritual. The ritual consists of a relaxing massage with melted bitter chocolate in fine oil and a coffee body peeling to remove dead cells gently. Then a cream bath with chocolate pralines and chocolate mousse wraps.
Gold ritual. This ritual is inspired by Cleopatra. She slept every night with a golden mask on her face to keep the skin younger, improve its elasticity, and preserve its natural brightness. So after a thorough facial cleansing, you can also try a 24-carat gold mask and see if your skin is actually younger.
Food and Diet
As far as food is concerned, wellness resorts offer everything. From desserts rich in pastries, croissants, jams, toasts, tea, and coffee of all kinds, to dietetic lunches based on centrifuged vegetables.
You can have any kind of menu; if you need energy and get back in shape, you can choose a resort with an excellent gourmet restaurant where you can taste the best of world cuisine.
If you want to purify yourself or lose weight, you can choose the specialized facilities that offer guided programs. In a couple of days, you can clean the body thanks to infusions, smoothies, and yogurt, or take a controlled fast, perhaps combined with meditation.
Dieting is undoubtedly a significant branch for wellness resorts. Here the results are most comfortable to achieve because you find yourself in an environment without temptations.
Perhaps surrounded by other people who want to accomplish the same goals. In these places, the motivation is fundamental because it is not affected by everyday problems. The problem, if anything, is to return to everyday life and maintain the same concentration.
